Best Time To Visit Zimbabwe

Best Time for a Zimbabwe safari holiday

Zimbabwe is a year round safari destination, offering rewarding game viewing in its national parks throughout the year. However, the best time to visit Zimbabwe is typically between July and October, during the dry season when wildlife congregates around rivers and waterholes, ideal for game viewing in parks like Hwange and Mana Pools.

Zimbabwe has a subtropical climate moderated by altitude, resulting in mild winters (May to August) and hot summers (October to February). The country experiences a rainy season from November to March, which transforms the landscape into lush green but can make some roads impassable in remote parks.

Travel is still possible during the green season, but April to June and November can bring occasional heavy rainfall, especially in the Zambezi Valley and eastern highlands. Some camps, especially in Mana Pools, may close during the height of the rains. If your focus is Victoria Falls, the high water flow is best seen from February to May, while August to December offers better visibility of the rock formations as water levels drop.

In summary, for safari-goers and nature lovers, Zimbabwe’s dry season (July to October) is the most reliable for wildlife viewing, while February to May is best for witnessing Victoria Falls in its full glory.

Jan to March

January to March is a warm and dry period in Kenya, ideal for game viewing and photography. It's also the calving season in the southern Serengeti, where thousands of wildebeest give birth, attracting predators and offering dramatic wildlife scenes, perfect for a combined Kenya-Tanzania safari experience.
